Wallaroo was first founded in 1999, when Stephanie Carter was inspired by visits to her husband’s family in Australia, where the threat of skin cancer has long been understood. Back in her home state of Colorado, so much of their life was spent outdoors, yet the trend toward daily SPF and UPF clothing had yet to take hold. Their vision was to create functional, fashionable hats that are comfortable, packable, and effortless to wear—and to bring on all your travels. More than two decades on they are still innovating in their field by developing custom fabrics and everyday designs that make sun protection even more stylish.

Their hats are tested and rated according to the UV radiation blocking capabilities of materials used in the construction of each hat. They advise their customers to read the product description to determine if the UPF rating of the hat suits your individual sun protection needs.

We have added a UPF rating of 30+ or 50+ symbol for your reference. These fabrics are tested by the Australian Radiation Protection Agency and block 96 to 97.5% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Ultraviolet radiation, or UV, is present in sunlight. The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) shows how well a fabric protects your skin from solar UV. Always remember that a Skin Cancer Foundation approved hat only protects the skin it covers. Safeguard the rest of your body by wearing sunglasses, clothing and sunscreen.

As the company has expanded the hats are now made in China but please do note that Wallaroo Inc is a certified B Corp so all their manufacturers comply with high HR and working standards
