Does the fabric protect from UVA & UVB Rays ?

Yes it certainly does please feel free to take a look at our fabric information page for further detail. - http://www.sunsibility.co.uk/about-sunsibility/fabric-information/

What is the fabric made from?

The fabric has a built in sun protection factor of 50 and is composed of 80% Polyamide and 20% Elastane so it’s extremley breathable. It is also chlorine resistant, seawater tested, quick drying and machine washable at 40 degrees.

To what standards does the fabric comply?

The Italian fabric SunSibility uses complies by the Australian & New Zealand standards 1996 - The standard AS / NZS 4399: 1996 classifies the degree of protection in terms of UPF ( Ultra Violet Protection Factor ).

How is the fabric classified ?

SunSibility’s fabrics are all UPF50+ meaning UPF 50 is the MINIMUM a colour will hold in many cases it can be as high as UPF 100. 10 Minutes x UPF ( Previously SPF ) 50 = 500 Minutes or approximately 8 HOURS protection against the UV rays. UPF testing involves exposing a fabric to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and measuring how much is transmitted through the sample. Different wavelengths of radiation in the UVR spectrum have different effects on human skin and this is taken into consideration when calculating the UPF rating.

Factors that contribute to the UPF rating of a fabric are: -
• Composition of the yarns (cotton, polyester, etc) * The SunSibility collection is made with stretch fabrics from specialist material that is composed of 20 % Lycra and 80 % Nylon.
• Tightness of the weave or knit (tighter improves the rating) SunSibility’s fabric is all constructed as a tight knit.
• Colour (it is thought that darker colours are generally better but even our white is well above the SPF 50 rating. ) All colours carry a minimum of UPF 50+
• Stretch (more stretch lowers the rating this is considered during testing and our garment are generally loosley cut although made with stretch fabrics )
• Moisture (many fabrics have lower ratings when wet) SunSibility's fabric is mostly used for swimwear we have simply utilised the very functional fabric to have a different end use but still great for going in and out the water. Chlorine and Seawater tested.

SunSibility's fabrics are all tested for the above and PROUDLY have a classification UPF 50+

Does every single product SunSibility sell have protection in it?

SunSibility’s own clothing range supplies an UPF of 50. Some of our accessories do not contain a sun protection factor for example our lace parasols, however we can line these with our sun protective fabric so it can be protective. We do also sell products from other companies that may not all be sun protective so ensure you read the description before you buy.

If the fabric is lycra are the clothes quite tight fitted?

No, all of our designs are very loosley cut unless stated ‘fitted’. If you are inbetween sizes ie 12/14 we would recommend you order a 12. If you would like guidance on sizing please do get in touch, we are here to help.

How much protection does the fabric offer?

The fabric offers excellent protection preventing 97.5% of UV rays. We also offer a double ply option on certain items where we double the fabric. This is something we would only really recommend if you are severley sensitive to UV Rays, maybe if you suffer from Xeroderma Pigmentosum. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this option.

Can i use the Vitix products around my eyes ? How long does it take to dry and how long does it last once opened

Viticolour Gel

There are no contra-indications regarding use around the eyes. It’s basically a cosmetic product so I’d advise caution in the same way as you would with any other eye make up and keep it out of the eyes.

It takes very little time to dry, depending upon the area being covered. Usually it is touch dry in a minute or so.

Once opened the packs have a 6 month shelf life.

The main thing to remember about Viticolor is that the colour develops over time. It should be re-applied every 8 hours until the best shade is achieved. Once this is reached it should only need to be reapplied once or twice a week to maintain the tint.

Vitix is applied each day, once or twice a day and massaged into the skin until the slightly grainy texture disappears (as the microspheres in the gel have all broken down and released the active ingredient).

Again, no problem using around the eyes -as with Viticolor.

Vitix also has a 6 month shelf life once opened. It might take a minute or two longer to dry but part of that time will be during the massaging in process.
